Johny Aala Re celebrates full 50 episodes!

The master blaster of comedy and humor, Johny Lever is all set to celebrate Johny Aala Re's golden jubilee episode this week! Yes, the entertainer has accomplished 50 mind blowing episodes filled with hilarious gags along with flashes of his personality unknown to his fans, and donning many disguises with ease.

The opening spell saw Johny Aala Re produced by Sheeba Akashdeep under her banner Cinetek Productions, have a record breaking opening with 3.3 TRP rating on the 10pm slot in the history of Indian Television. Johny burst open with a rib tickling impersonation of former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee, which soon established his domination of television comedy.

Soon after followed the famous get-up of Asha Bhosle, which had his audiences rolling in the aisles.

Annie is going to give her usual impressions of last night's Daily Show later today, but I just wanted to mention something about last night's guest, Pakistan President Gen. Pervez Musharraf. When I heard that he was actually going to be on the show, my first reaction was the same as everyone else's: "Whaaaaa?" Sitting heads of state don't visit TDS, and it's interesting that the first one is one that the U.S. has a friendly but tense relationship with. Remember that Pakistan, especially along the Afghani border, has been "terror central" for years, and many of the people in the country do not support Musharraf's alignment with the Bush administration since 9/11. So I was wondering how Jon Stewart was going to handle all this. I shouldn't have worried; he did a really great job.

Jon did a nice job of balancing serious questions with comedy; he started by offering the president, on to promote his memoir In the Line of Fire, some tea, as is Pakistani custom.

Film tries to capture "essence of Bukowski"

Dillon calls the author "a working-class hero" who gives voice to the myriad workers who escape from their daily drudgery with a stiff drink.

"Ninety-eight percent of people are not living their dream on their jobs," Dillon says.

"These are the people that fuel his writing. It's not as if the characters he's creating are like people who are beneath him. He's right in the thick of it."

Still, translating his tenderness to film — without the depth his written words supplied — is tough. Hamer had Dillon read some of Bukowski's poems as voice-overs to bring them into the mix. He also tried to retain the author's darkly humorous way of looking at life, Hamer says.

Hamer insists he didn't try to capture Bukowski's book on film.
